These stamps are from the current passport. I LOVE visa stamps. I get a little thrill stepping up to immigration (and hoping that someone doesn't decide I shouldn't visit their country) and waiting for that little stamp. I have pages and pages of stamps from Egypt.

Morocco was the first trip I had taken for about 7 years. I honestly don't remember how I decided on Morocco other than that I wanted somewhere unusual and with Islamic culture. Morocco seemed the safest at the time and also blended Islamic and northern Africa. I decided that the best way to see  the highlights of the country as a solo traveler was through a guided tour. I used the company Cosmos which fit my budget needs. There are pluses and minuses, of course, traveling this way. The 50th on a Felucca

So I turned 50 years old in Cairo and decided that I wanted to do a felucca ride on the Nile River with a few close friends and one person who just showed up.  Feluccas are a great relaxing way to see the Nile as it winds through Cairo. Bring your own food and drinks and it's a party boat.  How many people can say they spent their 50th on a Felucca (unless you're Egyptian of course)!

VENICE AND ROME 1997

Rome and Venice...the first solo trip that was entirely on my own, specifically as a tourist. I had decided to take a Christmas jo b at Barnes and Noble (15 years later...haha) to help pay for the cost of a spring trip. I decided on Rome and Venice as they were the settings for 2 of my favorite movies. Can you guess them? **Scroll down for Answer  Sadly, I have very few original pics to share. This was LONG before the days of iPhones or even digital cameras. The photos are pasted in an old fashioned photo album which is long buried away. I think I have a few that I digitized. I don't even remember the names of the hotels. I think the hotel in Rome was called the Americana. When I looked it up on Trip Advisor/Expedia/Hotels.com I couldn't find it listed.
